Sunday

Saturday!

After a busy week of teaching and early breakfasts, we enjoyed “sleeping-in” on Saturday and looked forward to our day off. Pastor Kaupo picked us up at 11:30 a.m. After buying our lunch (pizza and drinks), we headed into the country for a picnic. Across from our picnic site was an unused village water tower that had been converted into a look-out tower. The unique factor of this tower was that it had musical steps.

By a miracle of God, the Methodist church was able to buy an old dilapidated house a few years ago for $20.00. With the able help of volunteers from North America, it has been converted into a beautiful, functional church. A student in the intermediate class serves as the pastor. Since she was with us, we gathered around her in the auditorium, and prayed for her, her church and the community.

Along with the beautiful countryside we saw many well-cared for homes with manicured lawns. We drove up to the Russian border crossing and prayed for the country of Russia. We also crossed the “border” into Latvia, just so the team could say they had been in Latvia. The town of Võru is near both borders.

We concluded our tour on the highest “peak” of Estonia (approx. 1000 feet). After a strenuous walk “up the mountain,” we climbed (or took the elevator J) up another tower to marvel at a great view of Estonia. Since it was extremely hot, we all arrived back at the hotel feeling exhausted, but happy!
